Five youngsters stranded at the top of the Pandavkada Waterfall in Kharghar 2025

Yes, Pandavkada Waterfall in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, is currently closed to the public due to a ban imposed by the local authorities. This ban is typically in place during the monsoon season to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
Here's why and when the ban is usually in effect:

In addition to this current closure for construction, Pandavkada Waterfall is also typically banned during the monsoon season (June to September) every year due to the increased risk of accidents and drowning.
Here's a summary of the reasons for the ban:

Tunnel construction: Currently, tunnel construction work is ongoing in the area, leading to a temporary ban.
Safety Concerns during monsoon: The waterfall becomes particularly dangerous during the monsoon season with strong currents and slippery rocks. In the past, there have been several instances of drowning accidents and deaths at the waterfall, particularly during the monsoon.
Lack of adequate infrastructure: The area around the waterfall is considered to have insufficient infrastructure to ensure the safety of visitors, especially during the monsoon.

    Monsoon Season:
The primary reason for the ban is the increased risk of drowning and other accidents during the monsoon season, when the waterfall is at its fullest and most powerful.

Police Order:
A police order, often under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), is issued to prohibit entry to the waterfall.
Safety Concerns:
The ban is a precautionary measure due to past incidents of drowning and other fatal accidents at the waterfall.
Permanent Closure:
While the ban is typically seasonal, there have been discussions about potentially declaring the area permanently closed due to safety concerns and ongoing construction work near the waterfall.

Current Status:

As of today, Friday, July 4, 2025, the ban is likely in effect, as it is monsoon season in Konkan, Maharashtra.
Tourists are advised to check for any specific updates or announcements from the local authorities before planning a visit.
