Main Article Text:
A 63-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh, named Ramaji Ramayya, a resident of Karur in the district of Sri Anantapur, died on September 18 after he slipped and fell into a deep gorge while climbing a hill. The rescue team reached the spot and recovered his body.
The man was a pilgrim who had come for a holy visit. While returning from the holy site of Godavari Udyan, he lost his way around 9 a.m. and slipped, falling 300 feet into a gorge. A team of forest department officials, local residents, and officials from the police station arrived at the scene. He had fallen so deep that even after repeated efforts, they couldn't recover the body.
The Walibhars and rescue teams worked hard for many hours and with the help of a winch machine, they were able to pull the body up from the gorge. The police inspector of Meghar Police Station, Mr. Gadde, and a team of workers were also present at the scene.
A police official said the man's family was informed and arrangements were being made to hand over the body. It would have been difficult to recover the body without a winch machine.
