“IMD has predicted an orange alert in this section and during heavy rains, there are high chances of rock sliding incidents. Police officials from Mahad MIDC visited Nagmodi, Walne, and Gathmatha and it was found that there are chances of rock sliding. Looking at the overall situation, the road has been closed by the administration till September 30,” Sanjay Wagaj, deputy engineer, construction department.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses will now operate from Tamhini, Kumbharli and Aambenali ghat respectively.
10 जून रोजी अवजड वाहनांसाठी खुला करण्यात आलेला 108 किलोमीटरचा वरंधा घाट विभाग पुन्हा बंद करण्यात आला असून तो 30 सप्टेंबरपर्यंत बंद राहणार आहे. रायगड जिल्हा प्रशासनाने शनिवारी हा निर्णय घेतला आहे.
पुण्याहून कोकणात जाणाऱ्या प्रवाशांसाठी वरंधा घाट हा महत्त्वाचा रहदारीचा मार्ग आहे. भोर ते महाडला जोडण्यासाठी हा घाट सह्याद्रीच्या रांगेला दुभाजक करतो.
“IMD ने या विभागात ऑरेंज अलर्टचा अंदाज वर्तवला आहे आणि मुसळधार पावसादरम्यान, खडक सरकण्याच्या घटनांची उच्च शक्यता आहे. महाड एमआयडीसीच्या पोलीस अधिकाऱ्यांनी नागमोडी, वाळणे आणि गाठमाथा येथे भेट दिली असता खडक सरकण्याची शक्यता असल्याचे दिसून आले. एकूणच परिस्थिती पाहता प्रशासनाने ३० सप्टेंबरपर्यंत रस्ता बंद केला आहे, असे बांधकाम विभागाचे उपअभियंता संजय वागज यांनी सांगितले.
महाराष्ट्र राज्य मार्ग परिवहन महामंडळाच्या (MSRTC) बसेस आता अनुक्रमे ताम्हिणी, कुंभार्ली आणि आंबेनळी घाटातून धावतील.
